Early 2010 NFL Predictions

This isn’t going to be in depth. That will come later. I am planning on doing an in depth preview of each of the eight divisions and that will be when I offer my analysis and thoughts behind my predictions. This is simply me taking a brief (very brief) look at each division, keeping in mind what they did in the draft, what they’ve done this offseason, and all the knowledge of each team that I have accumulated over the years as well as my gut instinct about each one. I won’t be providing anything for this other than simply listing the final standings for each division, the playoff seedings and the winner of each playoff game. Most of which I will be deciding as I go. So without further ado… Continue reading

Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys

This is part two of my 11-part playoff preview series. For part one click here.

I’m just gonna throw this out there now: The Dallas Cowboys have not won a playoff game since 1996. That’s a long time ago. The Cowboys just haven’t been able to find a way to win in the post season. Even in games when it looked like they were going to win or games where for all intents and purposes they should have won, they still managed to lose. In that same period of time the Eagles have won ten playoff games and played in five different NFC Championship games, winning one in the process. However, I will do my best to not let this influence my outlook on this game, but I did feel the need to point it out. Continue reading

New York Jets at Cincinnati Bengals

This is going to be the first in an 11 part series – one for each game of the NFL playoffs. Bryan took care of the predictions, no matter how much I disagree with them. I’ll leave those alone and just do a game by game preview. This one is obviously about the Jets/Bengals game, which makes sense, seeing as it’s the first game of the postseason.

I want to start this one by saying that I believe this will be a ridiculously close and hard fought game. Don’t let last week’s game fool you. The Bengals weren’t about to tip their hand to the team that they would likely be playing in the playoffs the very next week. The Jets crushed the Bengals 37 to 0, but as I said, I think the Bengals were holding back quite a bit. Starting running back, Cedric Benson, didn’t even play. Continue reading

The SEC Basketball Tournament

secYesterday I put up my predictions for the Big 12 Conference Tournament, and as promised I am putting up my SEC predictions today. I have a little more bias when it comes to the SEC side of things, so please forgive me when you disagree with my picks. An interesting tid-bit that has always intrigued me is that the SEC and Big 12 both have 12 teams in their conference, and both are divided into two divisions of six. The weird part is that for the Big 12 conference tournament, they seed all the teams 1 through 12 regardless of division, while the SEC seeds the two different divisions 1 through 6 and has it set up so that for the first round no two teams from the same division are matched up against one another. The Big 12 Conference Tournament

ku_v_ut_trophy_tight_t640This is the first of two parts where I will be predicting the results for two of the NCAA basketball conference tournaments. I’m only going to do the Big 12 and SEC because beyond that I don’t know enough nor care enough, so we’ll just keep it simple with these two. This one, as you can probably guess from the title, is the Big 12 Tournament prediction. I chose to do it in form of a bracket because that’s what March is all about, right?

NFL Playoff Predictions – Wild Card

With the playoff seedings set and the first post season game kicking off in about 24 hours, I figured I should get my playoff predictions up. This was a lot harder than it probably should have been. Yes, bias played into these predictions, but not so much that I think they aren’t legit. I was frequently referencing my final power rankings, while also taking into account who’s hot right now and who seems to be putting everything together at the right time. After the wild card round I’ll put up a new set of predictions so that I’ll be able to revise the draft order for my mock drafts. Speaking of mock draft, I’ll try to have a new one up tonight or tomorrow morning. Without further ado, here are the predictions: Continue reading
