2011 NFL Mock Draft I (05/15)

Well the 2011 NFL Draft is only about 341 days away, which means it’s time for my first 2011 mock draft. I’m determining the draft order by using vegasinsider.com’s odds on who will win Super Bowl XLV, which I am listing with each team. The only exception to this is Oakland, because they traded their first round pick to the patriots, so in that slot I am listing the Raiders odds of winning the Super Bowl, not the pats. This is just one round, because let’s be real about it, a mock draft of any length with the actual draft this far away is just ridiculous… but it’s fun to do, so here it is: Continue reading

2010 NFL Mock Draft XXIc (04/22)

It’s draft day! So this is my final mock draft… kinda. I’m actually going to be putting up three mock drafts today, because there are three main possibilities for what the Rams can do with the first pick and each one would have a significant impact on the rest of the draft. The first one (and the one that most people see as the most likely option) is Mock Draft XXIa and has the Rams taking Sam Bradford first and Mock Draft XXIb has the Rams taking Ndamukong Suh first overall and XXIc (this one) has the Rams trading out of the first pick. I just put up the final results for the Fan Mock Draft (each team was represented by a different person) a few days ago and it’s been exactly a week since Mock Draft XX, and I’m ready for the real draft to start.

I also want to once again remind everyone that Bryan and I will be live blogging during all three days of the actual draft (to go to the page for Day 1 Live Blog just click here) and we hope that everyone will come join the running conversation that we will have going on in the comments section. It should be a lot of fun.  I also put up my Colts Wish List a few days ago, so if you’re curious about what I want the Colts draft to look like I recommend you take a look at that. Also, I won’t be putting up my reasoning and thoughts behind the picks after these mocks like I’ve done with most of my other ones, because at this point if you don’t agree with me then you don’t agree with me and most everybody’s mocks are going to be wrong within the first half of the first round anyhow.

Either way if you want to see how my mocks have progressed over the past year, then just follow these links… IIIIIIIVVVIVIIVIIIIXX,XIXIIXIIIXIVXVXVIXVII, XVIII, XIX, XX, XXIa and XXIb. Here is XXIc: Continue reading

2010 Fan Mock Draft – Round 2

This is the second round of our interactive, fan mock draft where the readers make the picks. We have each team being represented by a different person and they make the picks that they think are best for their team. Each person has six hours to make their pick and then the next person is on he clock. To see the easier to read, spreadsheet version of the draft click here. To see the reasoning behind the first round picks, click here.

Here’s how the second round has played out:

33. St. Louis Rams – Golden Tate – WR – Notre Dame

I’m about production, not workouts.  Tate just catches passes which is what the Rams need more than anything.  Benn is bigger and can return kicks, but when it comes to route running and catching passes, Tate is the man.  This will give him a year to learn pro football before we draft our Quarterback with the #1 pick next year.  It was almost Benn, because of the local Illinois roots, but the Rams need playmakers and Tate is that.

2010 Fan Mock Draft – Round 1

This is the first round of our interactive, fan mock draft where the readers make the picks. We have each team being represented by a different person and they make the picks that they think are best for their team. Each person has six hours to make their pick and then the next person is on he clock. To see the easier to read, spreadsheet version of the draft click here. To see the picks and reasoning for round two click here.

Here’s how the first round has played out:

1. St. Louis Rams – Ndamukong Suh – DT – Nebraska

It was always Suh or Bradford for me but when I examined it closer, the choice was obvious.  Suh is the most dominate Defensive Lineman in recent history and Bradford is coming off a big shoulder injury.  That’s not exactly what you want out of a QB when you’re going to throw him behind a fragile offensive line.  It’s too big of a risk for what will certainly be a huge sum of money and a long contract.
