Urby Needs to Calm Down

I rarely agree with a Florida Gator.  In fact, right now I’m having a very tough time coming up with even one time where it has happened.  That’s why I was surprised when I read a quote from Florida wide receiver, Deonte Thompson, in the Orlando Sentinel regarding Tim Tebow:

“You never know with Tim,” Thompson said. “He can bolt. You’ll think he’s running, but then he’ll just come up and pass it to you. You just have to be ready at all times. With Brantley, everything’s with rhythm, time. Like, you know what I mean, a real quarterback.”

Wow, Mr. Thompson.  I see exactly what you mean and that makes perfect sense.  I might not have alluded to him being a fake quarterback (well, I would have but if I were a Gator, I wouldn’t), but you get the idea.  Tim liked to run with the ball sometimes but  no one other than himself knew if he was going pull the ball down and take off or actually throw instead.  So it definitely makes sense that a pure-passer would be easier to play with.

Everyone saw it that way, right?  …Right?

WaB’s Take On Tim Tebow

I’m sure you’ve seen it by now.  If not, enjoy:

Anyway, in case you don’t know, Florida Gators superhero Tim Tebow was knocked unconscious by cult hero, Kentucky freshman defensive end Taylor Wyndham.  We’re not going to bash the Florida QB or call him names because…well, we’re just not going to.  However, we do have a few observations about the hit, the circumstances, and the fan reaction.

Gillespie out, Donovan in?

Billy Gillespie was fired by the University of Kentucky today.  This website says that Billy Donovan is already the Wildcats’ next head coach.  Much more on this still to come, I’m sure.

I’m not sure why Donovan would do this.  He’s got a pretty good thing going already, this could only be seen as a lateral move.  Sure Florida hasn’t made the tournament in the last two years, but that doesn’t change the back to back National Championships.  My guess is that he takes the job today and then bolts back to Gainesville by next Tuesday.

Post NCG Thoughts

First, it’s Weller’s 21st birthday, so I’m assuming he’s not coherent enough to know what happened in the football game.  Happy birthday, Weller.

I turned the game off with about two minutes to go, so I’m just going to assume Florida won.  It kind of went how I expected, but that doesn’t make me hate Tim Tebow any less.  Now I’m forced to watch pool on ESPN2 to avoid seeing the Tebow love-fest.  Anyway, follow the link for a couple reactionary thoughts.

National Championship Game Preview

After tonight’s GMAC Bowl between Ball St and Tulsa, there will only be one game left in the college football season.  You might have heard a little bit about it over the past couple of weeks.  It’s the National Title Game between Florida and Texas Oklahoma.  I’ve seen Oklahoma play in person and that was not much fun.  I haven’t ever seen Florida play in person, but I hate them, so this should work out well.
