NCAA Tournament Picks – Sweet 16

I actually forgot about the Tournament today with our mock draft going on, so forgive my tardiness.  I’m going to give my picks for all right games because I know that I’ll forget again tomorrow.

I’ll start with the two games currently going on since they’ll be over in a minute anyway.

NCAA Tournament – Day 4

I think Weller was lost on the Strip last night plus his internet is probably still out.  Luckily, my picks are getting better as we go along, which is odd.  I only missed one yesterday and that was the best one to miss.  I’m headed to the Blues game in a minute so I’m going to miss all the games today.

Let’s pick Day 4.

NCAA Tournament – Day 3

I only missed three games yesterday and two of them were the ones I switched at that last second.  I know, I know, I broke the cardinal rule of  bracket picking.  I’ll do better next year, I promise.

I’m not sure Weller is awake yet or if his internet is in tact so I’m here again.  By the way, it’s actually snowing outside.  I wore shorts yesterday and now there is snow on the ground.  I don’t know what to do with that.

NCAA Tournament – Day 2

You’re back with Bryan today.  Weller had internet for a brief moment last night, but then it went away again.  So, instead of getting good picks…you get mine.

Granted, I had an okay day yesterday if you take out the Georgetown game.  I had them in the Final 4.  I’ve never lost a Final 4 team in the first round.  Whoops.  Let’s get to it.

My Take On Rick Pitino

pitinoThis is my second semi-basketball related post in a row, which has to be a record.

Anyway, I had planned on letting this slide but then Louisville head basketball coach Rick Pitino had to go off on a rant against the media.

If you don’t know the story by now, you can read about it and watch his rant here.  Basically, the way I understand it is that sometime in 2003, Pitino had an extra-marital affair with a woman named Karen Sypher at a restaurant in Louisville.  That’s pretty much where the facts end and the speculation begins.  From there, Sypher married Louisville equipment manager, Tim Sypher.  She was then accused of trying to extort millions from Pitino.  In turn, she accused Pitino of raping her.  Pitino admitted to the sexual contact and insists that it was consensual.

And from here, it gets even more weird.

Never Question His Fanhood

We all know Weller is a Tennessee Volunteers fan.  I’d say he spends 90% of his day talking about Tennessee with people who probably don’t care that much.  His wardrobe is orange.  He dreams in orange.  His life is orange.

Finally, he got a chance to prove his love on a national stage.  ESPN listened. This ensued.

Why It Is So Hard To Watch Big 10 Basketball

Watching Big Ten basketball is tough. I’m not saying all the teams are bad. I think Michigan State is pretty darn good. It’s just that the games are boring. Really boring. Thursday night the sporting world got a great example of that: Minnesota 59, Illinois 36. The score was 22-16 at the half.

How could anybody enjoy watching a team score 36 points? Illinois’ leading scorer for the game scored nine points. Nine! For everyone’s information, there are 40 minutes in a college basketball game – the Illini didn’t even crack a point a minute, let alone a basket a minute. Illinois shot 29.4% from the floor, Minnesota shot a sort-of respectable 40.8%.
