Let’s Define A “Truck”

According to dictionary.com a truck is defined as “any of various wheeled frames used for transporting heavy objects.”

Job well done. A great post if I do say so myself.

No, just kidding, this post is not about  a lorry -as the Brits call it- but instead it’s about the word “truck” as a verb, and more specifically the meaning it has acquired with football connotation. Most people know this term, but for those of you that don’t it is in reference to when a player (usually in possession of the ball) flattens or “runs over” his opponent – like a truck.

Colts Wish List

With the NFL Draft being just a few days away I thought it was time to put up my annual wish list for the Colts. There are a lot of different ways that the Colts could choose to go with this year’s draft so instead of simply putting down my wish list, I’m going to list who I will be happy with (realistically) at each pick and who I’ve heard we could be picked that would make me upset. We have eight picks this year (31, 63, 94, 129, 162, 238, 240, and 246 overall) and I think our biggest needs are o-line, d-line, outside linebacker, corner and safety. That’s not to say that we will necessarily draft somebody for each of those positions, Bill Polian and Co. usually throw in a surprise or two and usually draft with a “best player available” mentality. Either way, let’s get down to it: Continue reading

Minnesota Vikings at New Orleans Saints

The second-to-last post for this 11-part series, previewing each and every game for the NFL playoffs. To see any of the previous nine, click on the appropriate link below:

Jets at Colts

Jets at Chargers

Cowboys at Vikings

Ravens at Colts

Cardinals at Saints

Packers at Cardinals

Ravens at patriots

Eagles at Cowboys

Jets at Bengals

This game will likely prove to be the most intense game so far this post season. These were the two highest scoring offenses during the regular season and both have stellar defenses. However I think one of the biggest factors in this week’s game is how well the Vikings can handle going into the Superdome and coping with the loud crowd that comes with it. All four of the Vikings losses have came when they were on the road this year. Away from home they are 4-4 and New Orleans is one of the hardest places to play as a visiting team. Continue reading

Dallas Cowboys at Minnesoata Vikings

This is part seven of 11 in my playoff preview series. To read the other six click on them below:

Ravens at Colts

Cardinals at Saints

Packers at Cardinals

Ravens at patriots

Eagles at Cowboys

Jets at Bengals

This game is intriguing for a few reasons. The Cowboys finally got that playoff monkey off of their back, and now it’s Brett Favre’s turn to see if he can get the monkey off of his back because everyone is wondering if his arm can hold up long enough to win a playoff game, nonetheless a Super Bowl. Unfortunately this preview is probably going to be a little shorter than my others have been due to the fact that I am going bananas right now after the Colts huge win over the Ravens. With that said, let’s dive right in. Continue reading

Arizona Cardinals at New Orleans Saints

This is the fifth installment of my 11-part playoff preview series. To read the others click on the appropriate one below:

Packers at Cardinals

Ravens at patriots

Eagles at Cowboys

Jets at Bengals

Let me first start by saying that Saturday will be a great day to watch great quarterbacks play at a high level. Peyton Manning in the late game and Drew Brees squares off against Kurt Warner in the earlier game but the Cardinals have had a short week. They played the late Sunday game last weekend and they play the early Saturday game this weekend. I don’t think it will really have much of an impact on the game, but you never know. The real question here is can lighting strike the same place twice? The place being represented by the Arizona Cardinals and the lightning being represented by an unlikely playoff run. Bad analogy? Fine, but you get the idea. This is gonna be a high-powered, high-flyin’, high-energy game that you like to see in the playoffs. Both teams are pass-happy, and score a lot of points. The Cardinals beat the Packers in this very type of game last week. Again, can lightning strike twice? Continue reading
