December 31, 2008:

Question: Today’s Brut Sun Bowl between Oregon State and Pittsburgh finished 3-0 in favor of the Beavers. When was the last time a Bowl Game finished with the same 3-0 scoreline?

Answer: There had never been a 3-0 scoreline in a Bowl Game before.  The Sugar Bowl has ended 3-2 and 2-0, but never 3-0.

December 3, 2008:

Question: What is the lowest passer rating Peyton Manning has ever had in an NFL game? When was it? Who was it against?

Answer: On Monday, December 10, 2001 Peyton Manning and the Colts were playing the Dolphins at Miami when Peyton went 19 of 32 for 173 no TDs and 3 picks, which gave him a passer rating of 35.0

October 21, 2008:

Question:What NHL player has scored at least one goal in the most arenas?

Answer: (I forgot the answer to this one, I’ll have to ask Bryan)

October 20, 2008:

Question: Tony Dungy and the Colts lost to the Packers at Lambeau Field yesterday. What is Tony Dungy’s all-time record as a head coach at Lambeau Field?

Answer: 0-8

October 17, 2008:

Question:Who is the oldest person to win the Calder Trophy, hockey’s rookie of the year award?

Answer: Sergei Makarov was 31 when he won it for the 1989-1990 season, when he was with the Calgary Flames.

October 16, 2008:

Question:Who has scored the most overtime goals in NHL history?

Answer: Jaromir Jagr and Mats Sundin are tied with 15.

October 15, 2008:

Question: On Sunday, the Cardinals beat the Cowboys in overtime, with the game ending on a blocked punt return for a touchdown. This marked the first time that an NFL game had ever ended with a blocked punt return in overtime. When was the first time that an NFL game ended on a blocked punt for a safety in overtime?

Answer: On November 5, 1989 in a game between the L.A. Rams and the Minnesota Vikings. Mike Merriweather blocked Dale Hatcher’s punt in overtime. The ball went out the back of the endzone for a safety, giving the Vikings a 23 to 21 victory.

October 14, 2008:

Question: Name the two coaches to face Bear Bryant three or more times but never lose to him.

Answer: In retrospect, I should have been more specific with this question. I was only talking about Bear Bryant’s time at Alabama. So the two coahces I was talking about were Dan Devine and Darrell Royal. Though as Stan Shotts mentioned, General Robert R Neyland also faced Bear Bryant 3+ times without ever losing. Neyland was 5-0-2 all-time against Bryant, but all 7 games came while Bryant was coaching at Kentucky.

October 13, 2008:

Question: Since the Houson Texans entered the NFL in 2002, what team has had the best turnover differential in the league?

Answer: The Colts have the best turnover differential in that span at +60. The *patriots come in second at +46, and the Chargers come in third at +42. Those are the only three teams to be +35 or better in that timespan.

October 10, 2008:

Question: Sidney Crosby is the youngest captain in NHL history. Who are the second and third youngest?

Answer: Vincent Lecavalier and Jonathan Toews.

October 9, 2008:

Question: Who has recorded the most safeties in an NFL career?

Answer: Ted Hendricks and Doug English, both had 4 safeties in their career.

October 8, 2008:

Question: What is the all-time record between the Tennessee Volunteers and the Georgia Bulldogs and who leads total all-time in points scored against one another?

Answer: Tennessee leads 20-15-2, and also leads in scoring 719 to 624.

October 7, 2008:

Question: What is the all-time record between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns and who leads total all-time in points scored against one another?

Answer:Texas leads the all-time series 57-40-5, and Texas also has scored more points with a total of 1705 points scored all-time against Oklahoma, while Oklahoma has only scored 1611.

October 6, 2008:

Question: The Missouri Tigers scored 52 points on the Nebraska Cornhuskers this past Saturday. These two teams have met 102 times. Where does this 52-point-game rank all-time for the Tigers in games against the Huskers?

Answer: That’s the second highest that the Tigers have ever scored on Nebraska. The only other time that they’ve even scored in the 50s was 1943 when they won 54 to 20.

October 3, 2008:

Question: What are the 8 ways to legally reach first base in Major League Baseball?

Answer: Evidently there are a lot more than just eight ways, but we were going with the eight basic ones, and here are the ones we were thinking of: a hit, get walked, get hit by a pitch, a dropped third strike, catcher interference, an error, fielder’s choice and a pinch runner. October 2, 2008:

Question: Who are the only three players in MLB history that played for over 20 years but never made a post season appearance?

Answer: Ted Lyons, Nap Lojoie, and Lindy McDaniel.
