2010 NFL Mock Draft XII (01/21)

It’s been about two weeks since my last mock draft and some things have definitely changed since then so it’s time for a new one. As I have done with the past few I will be taking into account the input from the commenters on the last mock. As usual, I will be determining my draft order based off of Bryan’s awesome, weekly post that shows exactly what the draft order would be if the season were to end today. To see how things have progressed with my 2010 mock drafts take a look back at IIIIIIIVVVI, VII, VIII, IX, X, and XI. Here is the twelfth installment:

  1. Why do you have Eric Berry going first? The Rams need a new quarterback, Marc Bulger is trash better jettisoned from the team. I also don’t see Al Davis pulling the trigger for Sam Bradford, a cerebral quarterback without great physical skills or an amazing 40 time. Clausen would be more likely at 8, or even at 1. And even though I’m an Alabama fan, I don’t think NFL GMs are going to be so in love with Rolando McClain to take him in the top 5.

    • The Rams will be taking Berry or Suh and I’m still sticking with Berry as the top pick. I think that’s where he deserves to be drafted and I think he is more of a momentum-shifting, game-changing player than Suh. I actually do think the Rams should take Eric Berry (actually what I really think is that Eric Berry should come back for his senior year… I can dream, right?) because the Rams are second to last in the NFL in terms of opponents passer ratings, they’re 28th in yards per passing attempt allowed and have the fewest interceptions in the league… the only reason they aren’t worse in total passing yards and passing TDs allowed is because opponents get a big enough lead in the first quarter and just run the rest of the game. Only 463 pass attempts against them this year and 468 runs, which -don’t quote me on it but- is one of the worst ratios in the league (it’s at least in the bottom five)… and that’s despite the fact that they’ve played pass-happy teams (Colts, Saints, Texans, Cardinals, and I guess you could throw the Packers and Lions in there as well) so I truly think a guy like Eric Berry would be most beneficial for the Rams.

  2. Well you at least accomplished not being a follower, most mocks are all pretty much the same. I appreciate that aspect, however when logic prevails I can’t really see 2 free safeties going in the top 6…

  3. Same draft as everyone else I see NE trading up this year thats right up to get one of the shut down cornerbacks in the draft and then get 2 dline and 1lb with their first and second round picks. Maybe even trade Oaklands 2011 first round pick to move up even farther in the first round look for them to make a big bang and fill a lot of holes on the d. More pressure on the qb makes for a better secondary…..

  4. Love that it’s unconventional but Berry first overall is simply madness, as is Mays at #6 to my Seahawks. Corey Wooten DE before Derrick Morgan DE? No Brian Price in the first round??? INSANITY

    • Read the other comments to get my response about Berry as well as Mays… and yes, I think Wooten is better than Morgan and Brian Price will be second round… he’s barely a top 50 player.

  5. you are smoking weed.

  6. The Browns took two WRs in the second round last year. There are far too many needs to spend a first rounder on yet another WR. They passed on some great players to select Braylon Edwards in 2004 and paid for it. The best defensive player available should be taken when they pick. The last thing they need is to make their receiving group even younger.

  7. […] Mock Draft XIII (01/29) Posted on January 29, 2010 by colts18 It’s been just over a since my last mock draft so I figure it’s that time again. Unlike the last few however, I will not be taking into […]
