College Football Week 2

Remember those good feelings that the Big 12 had after Week 1?  Forget them.

The Big 12 looked like the ACC out there.

I was at Mizzou’s squeaker of a victory, so I haven’t had a chance to watch a whole lot of the games.  I did get to watch the first half of Tennessee’s debacle before heading off to a tailgate.  Weller may have some sort of report on that later, unless he’s in an alcohol induced coma which is a a very real possibility.  Anyway, let’s get to whatever I was able to deduce from looking at box scores…

As I said before, the Big 12 had a big time hangover.

NFL Preview: AFC North

This is part 3 of 8 in a series that doesn’t look like it’s going to be finished by Sunday. If that ends up being the case, I’ll go ahead and finish it, and I’ll just have to be a week late. You can also check out my previews for the AFC West and AFC South. This is an interesting division because it consists of two great teams and two, well, to put it nicely, not-so-great teams. The two great teams being the Super Bowl Champion Steelers, and the team that they barely beat in the AFC Championship game, the Baltimore Ravens. The other two teams are the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns.

Did the ball cross the plane?

Last year the division was decided by about a millimeter, if that. The Steelers beat the Ravens to win the division when Santonio Holmes caught a touchdown pass with his body in the end zone, but the ball not in the end zo… well, did it cross the plane, maybe some part of it might have by the slightest part been over the plane. Maybe? It was pretty controversial and ended up having a pretty significant impact on the rest of the season. Continue reading
