2009 NFL Mock Draft IV (10/15)

As I mentioned in my most recent NFL predictions, I was looking over my last mock draft and had some qualms with it. In addition to that, there was a big trade yesterday that altered the draft order as well as team’s positional needs. Plus with another week of the NFL regular season under our belts, I was able to put up a new NFL prediction and update the draft order based on those predictions. What else could I do other than to just do another one? So despite the fact that I put up my last one less than a week ago, here is my newest mock draft.

Just for the record, I don’t actually think that the Colts will draft Sakoda this early, nor do I want them to. But I couldn’t really decide what I wanted them to do with this pick and it was the last pick of my mock draft anyhow, so I just threw it up there for fun. Plus I do still want them to draft him, or find someway to have him in a Colts uniform next year and I did this to drive that point home. I think that the Colts in this situation would actually take the best available cornerback, who in this case would be Joe Burnett out of Central Florida. Also, just to put it out there, I don’t see the Colts drafting a tight end in the first round either, but Coffman was still on the table so I went for it. Again, this wasn’t because I actually think it will happen, but is to simply show that I certainly would have no problem if they did draft him here, and since I did just do a mock draft less than a week ago, I thought I’d mix this one up a little bit.

As always, please feel free to leave a comment, and if you would like to submit ratings for your favorite team’s positional needs that I can use for my next mock draft take a look at our Contact Us page, and shoot me an email and I’ll let you know what you need to do.

My NCAA Football Top 25 – Week 7

Quite a mix-up this week…

RK (LW) School Comment
1 5 Texas We’ll see if they can hold this spot over the next three weeks. Their next three game are all against teams in my top 10: Missouri, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech.
2 3 Alabama Ole Miss is up next for the Tide. Can the Rebels pull off another upset? Somehow I doubt it.
3 6 Pennsylvania St Penn St faces Michigan next. They haven’t beaten Michigan since 1996, but they should this time.
4 7 Texas Tech The Red Raiders should beat Texas A&M this week to be undefeated when they hit a brutal four-game stretch: Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma St, Oklahoma.
5 16 Oklahoma St. The Cowboys look good and they get Baylor this weekend.
6 1 Oklahoma The running game needs to pick it up if this Sooner team wants to make it to a BCS Bowl. They’ll look to bounce back from their loss with a statement-win over Kansas this week.
7 8 Brigham Young BYU looks to take out fellow non-BCS powerhouse, TCU, on Thursday to extend their 16-game winning streak.
8 9 Georgia Georgia’s only loss has been to Alabama, which at this point isn’t anything to be ashamed of. But they did only beat my Vols by 12, and one of their touchdowns came off of a blown call by the officials, so it really should have only been a five-point victory.
9 2 Missouri Mizzou looks to bounce back from their loss to Oklahoma St, but it won’t be easy traveling to Texas this week.
10 10 Southern California USC only has one ranked team left on their regular season schedule, that being California.
11 12 florida Still lost to Ole Miss…
12 14 Utah I still want Louie Sakoda to be in a Colts uniform next year.
13 4 Louisiana St. After an embarrassing 30-point loss to florida, LSU will face South Carolina, Georgia, Tulane and Alabama in their next four games. Two of the games smell like trouble.
14 15 Boise St. The Broncos red shirt freshman quarterback, Kellen Moore looks very good.
15 13 Ohio St. Can OSU survive their next two games? Michigan St. and Penn St don’t think so.
16 17 Virginia Tech The Hokies have bounced back from their opening loss to East Carolina and are on track to make it back to the ACC Championship.
17 18 South Florida The Bulls had the week off, and face Syracuse this week, which could be a much closer game than most think.
18 19 Kansas Jake Sharp looked good against Colorado but the Jayhawks final six games won’t be easy: @ Oklahoma, vs Texas Tech, vs Kansas St, @ Nebraska, vs Texas and vs Mizzou at Arrowhead.
19 21 North Carolina The Tar Heels lead the nation in turnover margin per game, and don’t have a single game remaining on their schedule against a ranked opponent.
20 22 Michigan St. Ohio St, Michigan and Wisconsin are up next, and then it’s Purdue and Penn St. If the Spartans can come out of that 5-game stretch with only one loss, they should be happy.
21 24 Ball St. The Cardinals are partying like it’s… 1965? That was the last time Ball St. had a start like this and the toughest game remaining game on their schedule is also the last game on their schedule, when the face Western Michigan.
22 20 Wake Forest We’ll see how much longer the defense can carry this team, because the offense isn’t pulling their weight.
23 25 Tulsa Quarterback David Johnson was clutch on Saturday to avoid an upset, but we’ll see how this Golden Hurricane team fares on November 1st, in their only game against a BCS-conference opponent, when the travel to Arkansas to face the Razorbacks.
24 11 Vanderbilt Can the Commodores bounce back from their first loss of the season? We’ll see when they travel to Georgia this week.
25 NR TCU If the Horned Frogs can upset BYU this week, then they’ll have proven that they deserve to be in my top 25.

Others to note:
26 29 Pittsburgh
27 NR Minnesota
28 NR California
29 NR Georgia Tech
30 NR Florida St.
