Just yesterday I thought my decision to go running while still feeling the effects of a cold was the worst idea ever. Then I read a little bit more about the NCAA’s impending expansion of 65 teams to 96 teams for the National Championship Tournament. They might as well just come out and say, “Yeah, we’re money hungry and adding teams gets us more money. We don’t care what you think.”
I mean, yeah, who cares that the NCAA Basketball Tournament is perfect the way it is and it’s truly the only reason I watch college basketball anyway?
Under the new format, 32 of the team would get automatic byes into the second round while the other 64 would battle it out in an extra game. So let me get this straight, since 1985 when the tournament was expanded to 64 teams, the lowest seed to ever win was #8 Villanova in 1985. For the math challenged out there, that means only the top 32 teams even have a shot at winning this thing anyway. Hey, sure, let’s add 31 more teams who don’t have a shot to win. That will make it so much better!

On Friday night a friend from college called me up and informed me that he had an extra ticket to the Tennessee-Michigan State game and that I should come since I’m a Tennessee fan. Sound logic, I thought, so I went.
I’d never been to an NCAA Tournament game before and had never really planned on going, either. I’d rather spend my money on other sports, but I’m a sucker for my teams and I didn’t have to pay for the ticket so it was a win-win for me. I donned my orange and headed out.
My seats for the game.

I actually forgot about the Tournament today with our mock draft going on, so forgive my tardiness. I’m going to give my picks for all right games because I know that I’ll forget again tomorrow.
I’ll start with the two games currently going on since they’ll be over in a minute anyway.

I think Weller was lost on the Strip last night plus his internet is probably still out. Luckily, my picks are getting better as we go along, which is odd. I only missed one yesterday and that was the best one to miss. I’m headed to the Blues game in a minute so I’m going to miss all the games today.
Let’s pick Day 4.

I only missed three games yesterday and two of them were the ones I switched at that last second. I know, I know, I broke the cardinal rule of bracket picking. I’ll do better next year, I promise.
I’m not sure Weller is awake yet or if his internet is in tact so I’m here again. By the way, it’s actually snowing outside. I wore shorts yesterday and now there is snow on the ground. I don’t know what to do with that.

I was looking through some NCAA tournament predictions today, and it got me thinking about seedings. More specifically, it got me thinking about the games between the No. 8 and No. 9 seeds and the games between the No. 7 and No. 10 seeds. Now, if you were a tournament team and you landed a No. 8 seed, you would probably be pretty happy as an at-large team. You are technically favored to win in the first round, and that’s a good thing, right? Well, maybe not.
