Colts Wish List

With the NFL Draft being just a few days away I thought it was time to put up my annual wish list for the Colts. There are a lot of different ways that the Colts could choose to go with this year’s draft so instead of simply putting down my wish list, I’m going to list who I will be happy with (realistically) at each pick and who I’ve heard we could be picked that would make me upset. We have eight picks this year (31, 63, 94, 129, 162, 238, 240, and 246 overall) and I think our biggest needs are o-line, d-line, outside linebacker, corner and safety. That’s not to say that we will necessarily draft somebody for each of those positions, Bill Polian and Co. usually throw in a surprise or two and usually draft with a “best player available” mentality. Either way, let’s get down to it:

Oh goodness. This is a chess match and I’d be lying if I said this game doesn’t have me nervous as a Colts fan, but I’m still very confident. The Ravens have never won in Indianapolis. Ever. This is a rivalry though. The entire city of Baltimore hates the Colts, Peyton Manning and Ray Lewis have an immense amount of respect for each other, and Reggie Wayne and Ed Reed are best friends and consider one another a brother. There are tons of story lines that go along with this game but when it comes down to it only one thing matters: who plays better on the field. That is why we’re going to put all of those other things aside and focus on solely what will be taking place on the gridiron tomorrow.

The Orange and White Game

As many of you know on Saturday I was at Tennessee’s spring scrimmage, known as The Orange & White Game. If I remember correctly this was the first time I had been at Neyland Stadium for a game since I watched Travis Henry get carted off the field in a game against Vanderbilt. I went with my friend Jason, who was visiting me from Kansas. Jason seemed pretty blown away by the atmosphere here in Knoxville and in Neyland Stadium. At one point he compared the experience of the spring training game at Tennessee to that of an actual regular season game day at Kansas. Welcome to the SEC.

Tennessee Coaching Staff

On New Year’s Day I wrote a post about Tennessee Football’s new coaching staff despite the fact that there were still quite a few vacant positions. Two weeks later, I wrote another post to bring more news of the Tennessee coaching staff but there were still vacancies. Then, shortly after that the complete coaching staff was in place, and for whatever reason I didn’t write about it. So now here I am, nearly two weeks after National Signing Day and finally getting around to report on the complete staff for the Tennessee Vols Football team. Here it is:

Update On Tennessee’s Coaching Staff

Happy New Years to everyone!  This is going to be a thorough look at Tennessee’s coaching staff, or at least what we know of it so far. I’ve tried to compile all the big information into one post, because I know that I, for one, was getting annoyed having to switch back and forth between multiple firefox tabs if I wanted information about all the coaches at once. So this should make things simpler. But let me first start by sharing an interview with Lane Kiffin, that I found. Click here to see the video.

As we all know by now, Lane Kiffin is the new head football coach for the Tennessee Volunteers. What most people probably don’t know at this point is who Lane Kiffin has kept from last year’s coaching staff and who else he has brought in so far. From what I can tell, Kiffin will be keeping two of the members from last year’s staff: Stan Drayton, Running Backs Coach and Jason Michael, Tight Ends Coach. Six other coaches have also been brought in. I put together a list of coaching positions, both those that have been filled and those that are still vacant. With them I will list who, from what I can tell, will be holding each of these spots on the staff. Not all of these are official yet, and I’m not 100% sure on exactly who will be holding what positions, but I’m pretty confident with what I have listed. I’m also adding the age and histories of the different coaches. Lane Kiffin, Monte Kiffin, Ed Orgeron and Jim Chaney are the ones I’m really focusing on, but I’ll try to give at least a little bit on all the rest as well.
