Okay, it’s been two weeks since my first 2009 mock draft and like that one, I am using my current predictions for the season to determine the selection order. I mixed things up a little bit this time though. Instead of making all of the selections myself I got some outside input. For 5 of the first 8 overall picks, I had the selections be made by a fan of the team, and then for six teams people submitted their ratings for each positional need on their team. So giving credit where it’s due, I would like to thank the following people:
Bryan, who again made the first overall pick for the Rams.
AJP, who made the Lions first round pick as well as rating their positional needs.
Matthew Conn, who made the Chiefs first round selection.
Alex Borenstein, who made the Dolphins first round selection and rated their positional needs.
Nick Wagner, who made the Browns first round selection and rated their positional needs.
Ricky Frech, who submitted ratings for the Vikings positional needs.
Clinton Portis (not really), who submitted ratings for the Redskins positional needs.
Brian Parkinson, who submitted ratings for the Cowboys positional needs.
Now with all of that out of the way, here is my second 2009 NFL Mock Draft:

Your kidding right? Myron Rolle, and Phil Loadholt, in the 3rd round? Travis Beckham too?
Back to the drawing board boys.
just out of curiosity, where would you have them go?
[...] Weller and Bryan [...]
I’m thinking Carl Peterson and perhaps Herm Edwards may not be involved in next years draft for the Chiefs. I can’t deny Johnson’s talent and that he will most likely be a top 5 pick…..I can’t deny that the Chiefs would benefit by his presence next to Glenn Dorsey, but assuming that Brodie Croyle will not stay healthy….ever….I gotta believe that Clark Hunt is gonna want one of the top 3 QB’s in the draft next year. Whom ever that turns out to be. I hope Sam Bardford continues to tear it up and decides to declare for the draft, but even if he doesn’t…..I’m thinking the Chiefs would take Tebow or Stafford unless they fall due to decline in stats or team success. Clark Hunt said he wanted the team to develop a QB, and if Brodie proves he is not the long term answer……it’s gotta be a QB with the first pick. On the flip side if by some miracle Brodie DOES stay healthy the rest of the year and figures out how to produce touchdown drives and win ball games the Chiefs probably won’t pick high enough to draft Johnson nor would we need him, because hopefully Tamba Hali, and Turk McBride will continue to develop.
I didn’t make that first pick for the Chiefs. They are one of the teams that were being picked by somebody else for the first round. But you do make very good points, and I agree that they do definitely need a quarterback.
[...] As with my past mock drafts I used my most recent NFL predictions to determine the draft order. As before I used reader’s inputs to determine positional needs for people’s favorite teams. [...]
The Vikings already have their future Center when birk leaves, but I love the pick of Cushing, an upgrade for Leber, he will learn under him and take over when he leaves via FA.
Nathan- I’m glad you like the picks! Check out our newest mock draft here: http://classic17.wordpress.com/2008/12/10/2009-nfl-mock-draft-v-1210/
